Saving The Environment and Helping People
One Bag at a Time
It is estimated that between 500 billion and a trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide each year. Of those, millions end up in the litter stream outside of landfills.
In November 2009, I started “My Green Crochet“; an environmentally friendly project that turns used plastic bags into one-of-a-kind craft.
The goal of my project is two fold:
1) Clean the environment by recycling plastic bags in an innovative way.
2) Give back to my birthplace by donating sale proceeds to charitable organizations (NGO) in Egypt, that work with impoverished women and children.
I love to crochet, and reusing these plastic bags to help the environment and to help other people is like killing two birds with one stone.
